The Tower of Babel at the moment that God confused the language of the people.

Genesis 11:1–9 tells the story of humanity’s first major rebellion against God after the flood. At The Tower of Babel, people came together with one language and one goal—to build a city and a tower to make a name for themselves. Their pride led them to defy God’s command to fill the earth, choosing instead to establish their own greatness.

“Then they said, ‘Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be dispersed over the face of the whole earth.’” (Genesis 11:4, ESV)

God intervened, confusing their language and scattering them across the earth. This event reminds us that when humanity unites to exalt itself apart from God, it always leads to judgment.

Today, we see similar patterns emerging. There is a strong push to unite humanity under a common cause—one that often excludes or even opposes God. While global cooperation can be good, history and prophecy warn us that when people seek unity apart from God, it leads to deception and disaster.

The Modern Tower of Babel: A Global Mindset

Throughout history, humanity has attempted to build a world where people rely on themselves rather than on God. The recent global pandemic highlighted this mindset. Leaders and institutions promoted a vision of global unity to “overcome” the crisis, often dismissing faith in God as irrelevant—or even dangerous.

Phrases like “for the greater good” and “for public health” became common, creating pressure for people to conform. Those who questioned or resisted government mandates were ridiculed and, in some cases, treated as enemies of society.

While medical advancements are not inherently wrong, the underlying issue is the push to enforce a single mindset—a global effort to control human behavior in a way that mirrors the rebellion at Babel. When people seek solutions apart from God, they inevitably place their trust in human power and systems rather than in the One who created them.

A World Preparing for Deception

Jesus warned that the last days would resemble the days of Noah—an era marked by human corruption and disregard for God’s commands.

“For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.” (Matthew 24:37-39, ESV)

Paul echoed this warning, describing a time of great deception before Christ’s return (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4). This deception will be so strong that many will fall away from the faith, embracing lies rather than the truth of God’s Word.

One possible scenario that aligns with this warning is the growing hostility toward those who do not conform to government mandates. Imagine a future where those who resist certain policies or ideologies are suddenly removed—perhaps through the rapture. How might the world explain their disappearance?

A deception could arise, claiming that an external force—such as extraterrestrial beings—removed those who refused to “progress” with the rest of society. This explanation would pave the way for even greater control, requiring remaining individuals to prove their allegiance to the new global system.

Conditioning for the Mark of the Beast

Revelation 13 describes a future world leader, the Antichrist, who will enforce a system where people must receive a mark to participate in society.

“Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave, to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name.” (Revelation 13:16-17, ESV)

Could the world already be preparing for this? While today’s technologies and mandates are not the mark of the beast, they show how quickly people will accept restrictions in the name of “safety” or “the common good.” Those who resist are often demonized, much like believers will be in the tribulation.

It is not about whether one takes a vaccine or follows a policy—it is about the mindset. The world is being conditioned to accept increasing control and surveillance, making it easier for the Antichrist’s system to take hold when the time comes.

A Great Falling Away

Another sign of the last days is the growing rejection of biblical truth. Many once-strong Christian leaders are abandoning their faith, embracing humanism, atheism, or spirituality that denies Christ. Polls show that fewer people believe Jesus is the only way to salvation, and many question the Bible’s authority.

“Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.” (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4, ESV)

This falling away is happening now. The world is being prepared for the ultimate deception—the worship of a false messiah. Those who remain faithful to Christ will face increasing pressure, but we must stand firm.

Stand Firm with the Armor of God

As believers, we are not called to fear but to be vigilant. We must put on the full armor of God daily.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.” (Ephesians 6:10-11, ESV)

We must:

  • Stay rooted in Scripture – The Bible is our anchor in a world of deception.
  • Pray for wisdom and discernment – Ask God for guidance in navigating these times.
  • Share the Gospel boldly – Many are lost and searching for truth. We must point them to Jesus.
  • Trust God’s plan – No matter how dark the world becomes, He is in control.

The rebellion at Babel ended with judgment. The world today is heading toward another moment of divine intervention. Jesus is coming soon. Will you be ready?

Let us live with urgency, keeping our eyes on Christ. Stay faithful, stand firm, and trust in the Lord’s promises.

I pray, MARANATHA! (Come quickly, Lord Jesus!)
