Donald Trump believes his presidency is divinely appointed, especially after surviving the assassination attempt in Butler, PA. As he and other leaders work toward new peace deals in the Middle East (Link), between Ukraine and Russia (Link), some are asking: Could this push for peace lead to the “peace and safety” Paul warned about?
“For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, ‘There is peace and security,’ then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:2-3 (ESV)
If so, we must wake up. Paul says this false peace comes right before sudden destruction. That destruction must follow the Rapture, meaning Jesus’ return would be very near. This is not a time for fear or guessing dates—it is a time for action. If the end is close, we must be focused on making disciples.
The Problem with False Peace
World leaders have promised peace for centuries, yet war and chaos always return. That’s because real peace doesn’t come from treaties—it comes from Jesus. He said, “In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).
If the world is on the verge of believing it has achieved peace, we know what happens next. This false security will not last. Many will be caught off guard, unprepared for what is to come. As believers, we must not be among them. Instead of watching in silence, we must share the truth while there is still time.
Why the Great Commission Matters More Than Ever
If Jesus’ return is close, our mission is clear:
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19).
There will come a time when it will be too late to share the gospel. If the world is being lulled into false security, we must shake people awake. Every person we meet is either saved or lost. If we are in the final moments before the Rapture, we must do everything we can to bring people to Christ.
How Should We Respond?
- Let the Headlines Push You to Action – Instead of worrying about world events, let them remind you to share the gospel. If peace is being declared, we must proclaim Christ even louder.
- Speak the Gospel While There Is Time – People trust in leaders, but true security is only in Jesus. Every conversation could be someone’s last chance to hear the good news.
- Live Like Jesus Is Coming Soon – Jesus warned us: “You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect” (Matthew 24:44). If we believe this, we must live holy lives and stay focused on His mission.
Conclusion
Could Trump’s push for peace be the fulfillment of the “peace and safety” prophecy? We don’t know for sure, but we do know this—Jesus is coming. If the world believes it can secure peace and safety, we must act fast. The time to share the gospel is now.
If Jesus came back today, would He find you faithful?
