Jesus Christ standing on the clouds with radiant light, offering hope to a broken world below filled with chaos and darkness. Jesus is our Hope in Chaos.

The other day, I shared a post on Facebook that resonated with a lot of people. It gave voice to thoughts many of us have but often feel alone in. The response was overwhelming, with friends sharing it beyond Facebook. Some even asked for a way to access it outside social media. So, I’m putting it here, and I’ll continue using this format so the encouragement God gives me can reach more people.

A World Turned Upside Down

Our world feels broken. Socializing in person is discouraged. In some places, it’s even illegal due to COVID-19 restrictions. We were told these measures would last “two weeks to slow the spread.” Now, we’re nearing a full year of upheaval. These mandates have changed our daily lives in ways we never imagined.

On top of that, we had a presidential election that left the nation divided. Some believe it was fair. Others believe it was filled with fraud. Certain warning signs—like mass mail-in ballots, vote count stoppages, and statistical anomalies—raised concerns. Yet, anyone who questioned the results was told they were wrong. This led to a massive gathering in Washington, D.C., on January 6, 2021, hoping for a different outcome. It didn’t happen.

Many who attended, and millions more watching from home, had spent months clinging to the hope that things would be set right. When that hope was crushed, it left many feeling betrayed.

The truth is, this cycle isn’t new. For four years, the other side of the political spectrum had also been strung along—told that their opponent would be removed, only to be disappointed again and again.

The Danger of False Hope

People need two things to keep going: love and hope. You can survive for a while without one, but if both are missing for too long, despair sets in. And despair leads to dark places.

False hope has been dangled in front of us for decades. Politicians, leaders, and media figures have used promises to keep people believing, only to let them down. The pandemic has added another layer to this. People have lost jobs, businesses, and freedoms, all while being told to “just hold on a little longer.”

Leaders know that hopelessness leads to desperation. Desperate people act unpredictably. So, they provide just enough “hope” to keep people from revolting. But they never intend to fulfill those promises.

Then, when people realize the lie, they’re given a new promise to chase after. Wash, rinse, repeat.

The Hope That Never Fails

So, what can we actually hope in? If everything in this world is uncertain, what is left?

The Blessed Hope.

Jesus Christ is coming back. That’s not an empty promise. It’s not wishful thinking. It’s a guarantee.

God keeps His promises. We know this for two reasons:

  1. We’ve seen Him work in our own lives. Think back—has God ever answered a prayer? Provided in a way you didn’t expect? Spared you from harm? These moments may seem small, but they are reminders that He is faithful.
  2. We’ve seen His promises fulfilled in history.

One of the greatest examples is the nation of Israel.

Proof That God Keeps His Word

Ezekiel 36:33-36 (ESV) says:

“Thus says the Lord God: On the day that I cleanse you from all your iniquities, I will cause the cities to be inhabited, and the waste places shall be rebuilt. And the land that was desolate shall be tilled… They will say, ‘This land that was desolate has become like the garden of Eden.’”

For centuries, the land of Israel was barren. In 1867, Mark Twain visited and described it as a desolate wasteland. But in 1948, against all odds, Israel became a nation again. The land flourished. Today, it thrives. Just as God promised.

This was a prophecy written thousands of years ago, fulfilled in our lifetime. If God was faithful to this promise, why would we doubt His promise of Christ’s return?

Why Is Jesus Delaying?

Many ask, If Jesus is coming back, why hasn’t He yet?

The answer is found in 2 Peter 3:9:

“The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise… but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”

Jesus is waiting because He wants more people to be saved. Every day that He delays is another opportunity for someone to turn to Him. That’s not a delay—it’s mercy.

Our Mission While We Wait

We don’t have time to waste. We are on a rescue mission.

It’s easy to get caught up in politics, world events, and personal struggles. But as Christians, our focus must stay on what matters—bringing people to Christ.

Write down the ways God has worked in your life. Keep a “Blessings Book.” When doubt creeps in, read it. Remind yourself that God is faithful.

Then, let’s get back to work. The time is short, and eternity is at stake.

Go in peace and live your day for the Lord!

Spread the Gospel, lives depend on it!!!

In Christ,

Duane
